Pvt Randall R. Eckert graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1941 where he was Vice President of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter.He enlisted in San Francisco, California on 8 September 1944. He had been in Germany only six weeks when he was fatally wounded by shrapnel. He had been in service six months.
His cousin, Major William Carr, was reported killed on 17 March 1945. He is buried at the American War Cemetery Henri-Chapelle in Belgium.
