More information

Capt James T. Sandison graduated from Miami Senior High School and was employed in the purchasing department at Richards Store.

His parents came originally from Scotland, but the family came to Miami, Florida in the late 1920's.

Prior to going overseas, he served as aide-de-camp to Brig Gen T Marchant and taught military science at Rutgers University. He was sent overseas in October, 1944.

Capt Sandison led a group of 10 men over a bent girder of a demolished bridge to capture 110 German prisoners. He also played a role in the historic link-up of the First and Third Armies east of the Rhine.

He was first buried at Plot QQ, Row 3, Grave 56.
