Astor Magnuson enlisted in July 1941 and was sent overseas in May 1944.He was a member of a company, assigned to assist in the capture of enemy pillboxes from an area southwest of Ormont, Germany. Heavy machine gun fire from the enemy was encountered and when the company was reorganized, SgtMagnuson was missing.
