Pfc Peter B. Wheeler attended Newton High School for four years before he joined the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 12 November 1943 and was sent overseas in October 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
