Pvt Joseph Sedlacek was employed as a machinist in Detroit, Michigan before he enlisted in May 1944. He was overseas for three months when he was killed.At the age of 3 moved to Moravia, Czechoslovakia for 18 years before moving back to Michigan.
His mother and two brothers stayed in Czecho-Slovakia. His brother Frank also served in Europe.
