1st Sgt James E. Bicknell joined the National Guard on 15 August 1940.He was killed by shrapnel by a mortar or artillery round what caused lethal wounds in the chest and the pelvis.
1st Sgt James E. Bicknell was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery at Foy, Belgium on 18 February 1945. He was disinterred on 29 September 1948 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 1 October 1948. He was given his final resting place at Henri-Chapelle on 20 July 1949.
