1st Lt Eugene K. Watkins attended high school for four years and was a photographic processor before he joined the National Guard in Camp Patrick Henry Newport News, Virginia on 3 February 1941.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.

He is remembered at the Smith Cemetery in Poquoson City, Virginia.
