Sgt Joseph J. Wendrzycki enlisted in Syracuse, New York on 10 November 1942.Joe was just married right before being shipped overseas to a Helen James. He never got the opportunity to start a family with his new wife. He Lived on West Bridge Street here in little Oswego NY13126. Oswego lies on the southern shores of Lake Ontario. He grew up in a poor Polish household. Joe and his siblings used to run behind the coal delivery truck to pick up the coal that had fallen to use gor heat or sell. It gets very cold in Oswego in wintertime. His father immigrated from Poland and at that time he still had family living over there. Joe's parents spoke their native language at home.
Sgt Joseph J. Wendrzycki died on the front lines of Normandy.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Margraten, Block O, Row 11, Grave 262.
