Pfc Charles D. Nussbaum graduated from Mansfield High School in 1929 where he was on the track team and was a member of the photo club.He was employed at the Westinghouse Electronics and Manufacturing Co. before he enlisted on 10 November 1942 in Columbus, Ohio.
He was wounded in action in France on 5 September 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. After recovering he rejoined his unit.
