Pfc Estes Thorn was a graduate of Bridgeport High School in 1940 en was a farmer. He enlisted in June 1944 and went overseas in November of the same year.

His brother Kenneth served as a Motor Machinist Mate in de U.S. Navy in the southwest Pacific.
