Sgt Merlin P. Hulvey enlisted in Roanoke, Virginia on 1 October 1941 and was sent overseas in November 1944.

He was slightly wounded in action on 8 September 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.

He is remembered at the Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville, Augusta County, Virginia.
