Dattilo Jr. went to Old Forge High School where he played football, attended 1 year of college and he was a metal products fabricator before he enlisted on 3 December 1942 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.He went overseas on 29 September 1944 and was taken a Prisoner of War on 18 December 1944 in the vicinity of Krinkelt, Belgium.
