Pvt Robert L. Logan enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 29 May 1943.He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, where he was tenor soloist with the choir and with the Madrigal Singers., and attended Indiana University. Pvt. Logan had been overseas since January 1945.
His father Capt. Logan, was formerly pastor of the Greenwood Christian Church, and served as an army chaplain in Germany during WWII. A brother, John Logan, also served.
