Pfc Keith L. Mounce graduated from Jefferson High School in 1941. He attended the University of California for one year.He enlisted at Camp Dodge, Iowa on 19 July 1943. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
He was wounded in December 1944 but returned to the his unit.
One of the platoons of the company was sent on a mission into enemy territory. Because the platoon runner was not feeling well Pfc Mounce volunteered to serve as a runner for the platoon. The platoon was ambushed and he was killed by enemy machinegun fire.
