Pvt Charles Bu. Feidler was employed by the Castanea Paper Mill, before he enlisted at Fort Meade, Maryland on 19 April 1944.

On a ration detail to a battalion observation post near Germeter on 18 November 1944 the detail encountered a German patrol. After a skirmish, Feidler was discovered to be missing.

Pvt Feidler was declared officially dead one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.
