Pfc Ralph E. Ruppert graduated from Iowa City High Schooland attended the University of Iowa for one year. He worked at the local post office.

He enlisted at Camp Dodge, Iowa on 16 January 1944 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

His brother Cleldon served in Hawaii and his brother Richard served in the South Pacific.
