Pvt Antonio Albernaz Jr. was a sales clerk before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 13 March 1944.According to a report Pvt Albernaz and two other members of his unit were advancing through a wooded area when they were hit by mortar fire.
His remains were found in Hürtgen and initially registered as Unknown X-6223. He was evacuated to Ardennes Cemetery and could be idenitified at the research facilities there.
