2nd Lt. Ernest E. Martin graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in mechanical engineering.He was officially declared dead one day and one year after he was reported missing in action.
His remains were found in an unmarked grave in 2000 when a construction crew, was clearing unexploded wartime artillery shells, bombs and other explosives.
On 25 March 2008, the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC, now DPAA), announced that he was accounted for.
