Pvt Luciano was transferred from HQ Company to G Company and was furnished with motor transportation to the 2nd Battalion area in the vicinity of Sevenig on or about 15 September 1944. The motor messenger returned to HQ Company advising that Pvt Luciano had been tkane to his new Battalion area. A few days later the First Sergeant of G Company returned to the Administration area and when an accountability of personnel was reviewed, it was learned that Pvt Luciano had never reported to his new unit. At the time Pvt Luciano arrived at this area, also I Company was in this area and was strongly counter attacked by German forces.Pvt Joseph Luciano was officially declared dead one year and one day after he was reported missing in action.
