Biography
The following biography was sent in by his granddaughter, Donna Autuori: Pvt. Fred Weingart worked on his family’s dairy farm and dreamed of owning his own farm one day. He volunteered to serve in WWII as many men he knew were being drafted. His only child, Don Weingart, was only three years old at the time of his death. Don followed in his father’s footsteps and went on to become a Marine in the United States military serving in Vietnam as a crew chief on a helicopter. Our family is grateful in that Pvt. Weingart’s gravesite has been adopted by Henk Dormans of the Netherlands who has paid tribute for years with flowers and visits.Source of information: Raf Dyckmans, Donna Autuori, www.abmc.gov, www.wwiimemorial.com, www.ancestry.com - 1940 Census / Headstone and Internment Record, www.fold3.com - WWII Draft Registration Cards, www.9thinfantrydivision.net
