Pvt Harold P. James attended high school for 2 years and was employed by the Republic Steel plant in Port Henry.He enlisted in Albany, New York on 7 December 1942 and received training at Camp Croft, South Carolina and Fort Dix, New Jersey. He went overseas in April 1943 and saw action in Sicily and Italy before his unit was sent to France.
