Pfc Lester A. Jacobs attended high school for one year and was a shipping and receiving clerk at the A.J. Weatherhead Company before he enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 17 February 1943. He was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was taken prisoner and died of his injuries in Germany. Whether he died in a POW camp or in a hospital is not known.
