Pvt Henry S. Humphrey worked on a farm before he enlisted in Camp Shelby, Mississippi on 29 April 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his buttock and hip.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.
