Pfc Fred N. Bard attended high school for four years before he enlisted in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 22 February 1943.He was wounded in the stomach during an artillery barrage that struck his squad around 3 PM. This happened near Emberménil, France. He was carried to a captured aid station, where he later passed away.
He is remembered at the Mount Union Cemetery in Mount Union, Huntington County, Pennsylvania.
