Pfc William D. Miley attended college for one year before he enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida on 25 August 1943. He was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was killed by small arms fire in his ear.
He is remembered at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Keysville, Hillsborough County, Florida.
