Pfc Walter A. Edwards graduated from Abilene High School in 1943 and was employed as a service station attendant. He enlisted in Lubbock, Texas on 23 September 1943.He was reported wounded in action and died in a field hospital from the effects of artillery shell fragments that resulted in the amputation of a leg.
