Kelly Bowling worked in a machine shop.He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 22 January 1942.
He saw action in North Africa, Sicily and France.
He was one of five brothers who were engaged in military operations since 1941. His brother Herman Bowling was killed in action on 3 August 1944 in France. He is buried at the Normandy American War Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
