Pfc Orris F. Schmidt attended high school for three years.He enlisted in San Francisco, California on 18 June 1943.
He was hit in the head by a shell on the road from Düren to Langerwehe, when he and some comrades were evacuating a wounded buddy. He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for this action.
