Sgt John V. Zocchi worked as a butcher at a meat market.He enlisted in San Francisco, California on 5 December 1942.
He was wounded in November 1944 by fragments of an artillery shell.
According to a Prisoner of War Record, Sgt Zocchi was taken prisoner on the same day of his death.
At that time, his unit was engaged in the fighting around Verdenne and Menil-Favay, Belgium. The exact circumstances and place are not known.
