T/Sgt Steve Vidnovic graduated at McKeesport High School in 1940 and attended the Augusta Military Academy in Virginia between 1941 and 1943.

He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 4 December 1942.

His brothers Nick, Sam, robert and Burke also served during the war.

Both parents were immigrants from Yugoslavia.
