Pfc William Deeter graduated from Lakewood High School in 1942 and attended Baldwin Wallace College Conservatory of Music for one year.He joined the US Army Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio on 14 December 1942. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied at Rutgers University.
Pfc Deeter was shot by a sniper, having been overseas less than a month.
