William L. Davidson graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and attended the University of Indiana where he played football and basketball.

He was a clerk when he joined the National Guard in Indianapolis, Indiana on 17 January 1941.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for galantry in action as leader of a patrol, wich captured thirteen Germans, one a officer in a house and then captured a town.

He was overseas for only three and a half months when he was killed.
