Jarrell M. Bryant graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) in 1938.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 27 April 1944.

When he tried to help a wounded comrade, he was hit by machine gun fire and died instantly.
