S/Sgt Guy O. Abrahamsen enlisted in San Francisco, California on 7 April 1943.Per letter from Chaplain Quinn: "At the time of your husband’s death we were in a city here in Germany, holding part of it, while the Germans held the rest. It was an important city and its complete capture was a step toward bringing this dreadful war to an end a little sooner. He was in a group that advanced toward a pillbox in a field where he fell. His comrades went to his side at once, but there was nothing to be done. Death had been merciful in this – it was instantaneous and Guy did not suffer. He comrades say that once he fell he did not move again.
...In visiting his company today I found the other soldiers speaking of him with great affection. He seemed to have been friend with everyone. His officers all said he was an excellent soldier and spoke of him in the highest terms."
