2nd Lt Tom R. Barrett joined the National Guard at Fort Lewis, Washington on 8 November 1941. He was sent to Officer's Candidate School in June 1943. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant iat Fort Benning, Georgia 25 August 1943.Lt Barrett was killed by shrapnel in his side.
He was first buried at Henri-Chapelle in a temporary grave on 5 November 1944. He was disinterred on 27 October 1947 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 30 October 1947. He was given his final resting place on 23 August 1948.
