More information
Some GI´s were among many men, allowed to visit Omaha Beach. No one knows exactly what happened, but about fifteen men were in a bunker when a terrible explosion occurred, killing all the men inside. There is the possibility that a naval shells exploded or that perhaps the bunker was booby-trapped. At any rate there were no other visits permitted anymore. He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Ste. Mere Eglise No. 2, France.
