Pfc James L. Sayers enlisted in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 16 August 1944. He had farmed with his father northwest of Morengo before entering the service. He trained at McClellan, Ala., and Fort George G. Meade in Maryland and was sent overseas in December.
