Pfc Elmer E. Sherman graduated from Marengo High School in the spring of 1945.He enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 16 August 1944 and was sent overseas on 8 January 1945.
He was a member of a two-men bazooka team, the other man, Pfc Palmer Wardenburg, was killed beside him.
