Pfc James E. Williams enlisted in Camp Blanding, Florida on 12 March 1943.

He attended high school for 4 years and was a salesman before he enlisted. He received basic training at Fort Leonard Wood and served in the European theatre of operations. Pfc Williams was killed by long-range artillery shell to command post.

He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Andilly, France.
