Pvt Horace E. Carrigan attended St. John's High School and was employed by the General Machanics Company in Hawthorne as a painter.He enlisted in August 1943 and trained at Camp Croft, South Carolina, Camp Shelby, Mississippi and Fort Meade, Maryland. He was sent overseas in August 1944.
