Pfc Mendryga was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously for meritoious service from June 1944 to 17 March 1945 in France and Germany. According to the citation he consistently demonstrated outstanding courage, loyalty and sincere devotion to duty in the accomplishment of assignes tasks, responding to any call for his services regardless of the circumstances.
