Pfc Elmer A. Steinbach attended high school for 2 years and worked on a farm before he enlisted in Fort Custer, Michigan on 10 February 1942.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Saint-Juan, France.
His brother Sgt Phillip O. Steinbach was also "Killed In Action" during the war and is interred next to him.
