Pvt Rudy R. Key attended high school for 3 years and was a driver for the Railway Express Agency.He enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 30 October 1943 and was sent overseas in April 1944. He saw action in Italy and France.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Saint-Juan, France.
He is remembered at the Mount Kenton Cemetery in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky.
At the time of his death his brother Harvey served at Camp Crowder, Missouri.
