Pvt Laurence S. Jones was a member of Co. A, Minnesota State Guards with the rank of Corporal. On 20 December 1942 he was honorably discharged from the Guards to be mustered into Federal Service. He entered the U.S. Army on 3 January 1944. After several months of training in this country, he was sent overseas.
