Pfc Jack B. Blackett graduated from Huntington Park High School, California.

He enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 31 August 1944.

He was killed at about 5:00 p.m. on 8 May, V-E Day, when a soldier of the company was cleaning a German pistol, and during the course of the cleaning, the weapon accidentally discharged, one bullet striking Pfc Blackett.
