Sgt Walter F. Puzio was married to Mary Wetzel in Chester, Pennsylvania, on 24 August 1938.

He enlisted in Pennsylvania in 1942 and received training at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma and was stationed at Fort George Meade, Maryland, before he was sent overseas in April 1943.
