Pvt Harlen W. Way enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 8 March 1944.He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously. Pvt Way was caught in heavy cross-fire on 25 March 1945 with four other men. He crawled to a point of vantage after he was wounded and maintained fire on the enemy so that his companions could escape.
