T/5 Walter B. Harper enlisted in Missoula, Montana on 5 May 1942.He arrived in Normandy on 9 June 1944 and was in action continuously until his death.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for gallantry in action on 13 June 1944 for stringing communication lines under clear observation of the enemy and repairing them under heavy fire, making the unit's victory possible.
