Pfc Manuel Benavides, son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Benavides, 318 West Polk street, Harlingen, has been killed in action in Germany, according to a telegram received by his mother from the War Department. Pfc Benavides has been overseas about a year and a half of the two years he has been in the service. Holder of the Expert Riflemen Medal, the Valley soldier was with the Infantry. He is a former employee of McClendon´s store in Harlingen.
