T/Sgt Miroslav West was employed as a gardener at Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut.

He enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 15 August 1942.

He emigrated to the US on 16 April 1937, arriving on the SS Bremen at New York. At the time of naturalization in 1943, he resided at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, serving with the HQ Detachment, 8th Medical Battlaion.
